The Process
Choosing a bespoke piece is a truly personal process and in order to bring your piece to life Dalr offers a supportive, calm and creative atmosphere as we work together.
To begin your Bespoke journey it all starts with sending me an email, which you can do bellow, with as much detail as possible as to what you are hoping for. As Dalr has a unique style and way of creating Jewellery, I do recommend making yourself familiar with my designs, and thinking about what it is I can offer you with the skills set I have. I am definitely up for a challenge so don't hesitate if you have a wonderful, out there idea. I would love to see if I can help.
When you contact me with your ideas, I recommend sending me as much information as possible, such as images, style preferences, references to my designs that you like, gemstones, textures, personalised stamping ideas, and your story behind your desired piece if you wish to share. This will then enable me to understand as best as possible what you are looking for.
From there I will create a simple drawing sketch of the design. This will give an idea and description of the thickness of the piece, the design, texture and the size of the stone if using. I don't usually work from drawing designs, as my process is usually hand built and sculpted to how I feel the piece should take shape organically, so the drawing itself may not be an accurate representation of exactly how the piece will take shape. Once the design idea feels clear and you're happy to go ahead I will begin the making process.
Each bespoke piece includes up to three refinements. Additional refinements come at an extra cost of £50 per refinement, but it is unlikely to reach this stage as most pieces are complete after three.
Timescales
Bespoke commissions vary on timescales depending on the complexity of the piece and the studio availability. As a one-woman run studio, ensuring I make each piece carefully and with attention to detail, I usually complete commissions within 3 weeks, although this time can extend depending on whether your piece needs to be cast, or if I feel I need more time on your piece. I would say 3-5 weeks is the usual timescale.
However, if you are needing a bespoke piece made quickly then I can try my best to fit you in, as I have previously managed to complete commissions within a week if it's needed for a special occassion. Please note this may not be possible depending on the design.
Investment and Pricing
Bespoke Jewellery is an investment in craftsmanship, slowly made by hand, and using precious materials that will last as heirlooms if you want to pass down to future generations.
My Bespoke commissions vary in pricing, but I have a few different stages to help with pricing.
Firstly if a piece is a Customisation to a design that I have already created that you would like slightly different, such as a different stone, or a different texture then this begins at a slightly higher price to the original design that I have made, as it requires sourcing new materials, and extra time on working together.
Next is a completely new Bespoke idea, is then heading into a higher price range. The price all depends on the materials used, the metal chosen and the complexity of the piece, so in order to begin looking into pricing, the design must be discussed first before giving a quote.
Metal prices fluctuate constantly with the global market, which means final pricing can vary over time, particularly for Silver and Gold, and precious gemstones. For this reason quotations are valid for 14 days. If a quote is not accepted in this time, a revised quote may be issued to reflect current metal prices.
If your commission request seems out of reach we warmly encourage you to save towards your future piece. We have payment plans available such as Klarna or Paypal. We also start with a 50% Deposit, and then the final payment upon completion, so you are not expected to pay for the full price of your piece upfront. When enquiring please don't hesitate to share your true investment range as this can help us to guide you. Bespoke Jewellery is not priced differently from person to person - it is guided by materials, craftsmanship and market value.
